Magicfly Hair Brush Straightener – Review

Last update: Aug 17, 2017 12:48, April Williams

Finding a good hairbrush can be a daunting task, especially if you are on a budget. However, there are several hair straightening brushes that offer great value for money. One of them is the Hair straightening brush from Magicfly. Following is my honest review of this brush which is hailed as one of the best ceramic heating straightening brushes thanks to its premium design and anti-scald features.

Though I did not expect much from a cheap hair straightener, I was quite impressed with its sleek design.

On the back of the brush’s handle is an LCD screen that displays its temperature. Interestingly, the screen displays the temperature in degrees Celsius. Fortunately, the manual that is included with the brush has a conversion table and tips regarding the most appropriate temperature for different hair types. According to the manual, 180° C is ideal for colored hair, while for normal textured hair – 210° C is recommended. For curly hair – 230 C is prescribed. I found the manual’s recommendations to be very helpful since I was not used to the Celsius temperature scale.

Apart from having a sleek design, this straightening brush is also lightweight. According to the manufacturer, this model is made of plastic which is free from parabens and other possibly dangerous chemicals. True to this statement, the model’s body and bristles are made of plastic. It is for this reason that the brush feels light when held in the hand.

Measuring 10.5 inches long, this straightening accessory is also not too large. The oval head of the device measures five inches while the handle measures 5.5 inches.

Regarding appearance, I found the combination of white and red to be very appealing. The brush is predominantly white save for the Droiee logo, the bristle tips and the LCD bezel which are all red in color.

The plastic handle of this brush is comfortable to hold, and you do not need protective gloves to hold it. This is because this straightener is easy and safe to use. This is one of the things that made me fall in love with this accessory.

Magicfly Usability

One of the things that I consider when shopping for a straightening brush is ease of use. Of all the straightening brushes I have ever used, this one has to be one of the coolest to use. It takes three to five minutes to heat up. Thus, all you need to do is plug it in, and you can begin brushing your hair. Admittedly, as with all other hair accessories similar to it, I have to spray my hair before using it.

Another feature geared toward ease of use is the 360-degree rotating cable. This cable does not get in your way while you are brushing your hair. The on and off switch is located on the handle making it easier to access. To top it all off, this tool has a power cord that measures four feet in length. This is more than sufficient for moving around while using the brush.

As already stated, this straightening brush displays the temperature in degrees Celsius, not Fahrenheit. However, it is possible to convert from the former to the latter if need be.

To suit the needs of various users, this brush has a maximum 230° C (450° F). When I compared this brush to other high-end models, I found that its maximum temperature is the same as on the high-end models. The temperature of this brush defaults to 190°. However, you can adjust the temperature to suit your particular hair type.

This brush is designed to be an anti-scald straightener. To this end, the bristles that come into contact with your scalp have round red plastic caps on their tips. The plastic caps make the bristles gentle on the scalp. Additionally, the brush has a row of bristles on its outer edge for a more comfortable brushing experience.

The ceramic heating surface of this device offers safety and uniform heating. Ceramic elements have low heating temperatures and are therefore unlikely to cause burns. Furthermore, ceramic heating elements provide a reliable and consistent heat source. Thus, using this brush does not put you in any danger of getting burned.

Adding to the long list of benefits, this brush from Droiee can also be used as a hair massager as well as a detangling brush. This makes it a three-in-one accessory.

The brush is economical to operate as it uses only 29 watts. Also, it is dual voltage (110-240V AC), making it a great accessory for use on the go.

Pros and Cons

This Droiee hair straightening brush has many benefits, one of which is its ease of use. As already explained, this brush is easy to use and comes with a manual that will help you understand its temperature configuration. Additionally, all of the controls are conveniently placed on the handle for easy access.

Also, this brush is safe to use thanks to its plastic construction and ceramic heating element. Furthermore, the bristles feature red caps that feel comfortable on your scalp.

At its price point, this straightening tool is not without its fair share of cons. For starters, you will have to brush your hair for some time before getting the desired results. Also, it is recommended that you brush your hair prior to using this straightener. The reason for this is that without brushing, this straightener could get stuck in tangled hair.

Although this Droiee hair straightener does not get the job done in seconds, it does a faster and better job when compared to other inexpensive models. Besides, if you want a straightener that gets the job done faster than this one, you will likely need to spend more money.

After all is said and done, this is a great brush to have.
