How to straighten hair without heat?« Back to Questions List

Hi, I'm told that heat can seriously damage my hair. But I have curly thick hair and it's impossible to do with chemical straighteners. Simply, they do not work :(. Are hot straighteners that bad? If so, what can I use instead?

Updated: Hi again!
Here is my new article about hair straightening without heat. I decided that a detailed post will be the way more useful than the answer above. Hope you will like it, cheers! ????

Hi, Kathy! Well, I can’t say generally that all hot hair stylers are evil. Some of them can be harmful. Especially, if you use a wrong temperature level or ignore heat protection. From personal experience, I know that you should be very careful during the procedure and also beforehand.

I recommend you try a hair straightening brush (it helped me, maybe it will be helpful for you too) and, also, read 10 tips on heat protection(which I use).

As for hair straightening without heat, sometimes I use olive oil for this purpose, apply the oil on the entire length of hair and then, an hour later, wash it off.It gives ALMOST perfect result. But I'm a perfectionist and can't be satisfied with this:)

I wish you good luck ????
